After languishing in my wip pile during the heat of Georgia summer and fall I finally picked the Seed Stitch Card back up. Everything is done except the button bands and collar. But I think its gonna get frogged.
At first I thought the problem was the yarn I subbed, the pattern calls for Pear Tree 8 ply 107 yards = 50 grams, I used Frog Tree Merino Melange 101 yds = 50 grams.
But no I think I either should have made a size smaller or that I would like it better with a lighter weight yarn (its dense) or its just the pattern. Thoughts?
Its too bulky/loose under the arms
Its tragic really because it is a beautiful sweater and those cables are lovely.
the yarn is beautiufl

and I managed to successfully modify it for long sleeves
I think part of the problem might be how much I still love my central park non-hoodie, in fact if this gets frogged that’s what the yarn will be.

tough call! it’s a beautiful sweater, a bit large in the arms but you’ll be able to turn and reach easily…
That’s too bad — it’s gorgeous. But for all the work involved, you should have a sweater you’ll wear……
Personally, I like it just the way it is! There’s room to wear something not totally snug under there. Ease of movement… room to breathe..
I’m not sure I could frog all that loveliness.
I think it looks terrific on you!!! I wouldn’t frog – just consider it a snugly winter sweater that isn’t too form fitting.
I have a similar dilemma on the needles. It’s the cabled riding jacket by Teva Durham. I would be thrilled if it came out half as well as your sweater
if it’s bulky under the arms…. you won’t wear it. I have a similar problem with a different sweater. pity.
I know I’m late to the party, but I’d say to frog it, OR find someone it fits to give it to. I never wear the sweaters that don’t fit me right.
I think the yarn’s too bulky, and it’s making the garment too dense. It IS beautiful, but I don’t think you’ll be happy wearing it. I vote for frogging.
Never mind what Fred Phelps sez, Heaven’s where I’m going. Wanna come along? Guhroovy. Meet me in Heaven, miss gorgeous, and we’ll have gobbbs of fun at my BIG-ol, WooHoo! party-hardy celebrating our resurrection for eons and eons. O! BTW! I’m gonna kiss your adorable feet the first chance I get, doll, because they have brought you this far (so be warned). God bless you. I wish I could tell you I love you in person -Totus Tuus (Latin: Totally Yours)
