The Wrap Up

IMG_2050I’m gonna do something here I don’t normally do. I”m gonna overwhelm you with FO’s! I really think each and every finished knit deserves it’s very own post. But I have several 2007 Finished Knits that I want to get out there so I can start 2008 off fresh and new.

First up, another Calorimetry, this one is a belated Christmas gift for a friend. Technically it’s not done becaues I haven’t selected a button for it and we all know that’s the most important part. I only cast on 100 stitches, knit on size 8 Bryspun Cirs, using the last of my Panache stash. Man I love this stuff! Why did KnitPicks do away with it? *sigh*

Next up – Baby Hat in the same Panache, it’s a matching set for Mom and Baby see? I think I cast on 64 stitches, worked in seed stitch for awhile then switched to stockinette and started the decreases when it seems appropriate.

Matching scarves for my niece in Carons’ Simply Soft. I was snowed in at my Parents and I had the yarn, so I cranked out a couple of sideways scarves to go with their blankets.

Here is Ashely rocking hers. Doesn’t she look all artsy with the scarf and the markers? She just needs a beret!

Last, but hardly least, the Simple Log Cabin Throw.  This thing really deserves its own post because I was seriously tired of knitting it waay before it was done!  All that garter stitch and stitches to pick up!  When it was done I crocheted a border around it to help bring everything together.  It looks really nice and I’m pleased with it, but I wont be making one again! LOL

Calorimetry Round Two

IMG_5613IMG_5704

I’ve made two more Calorimetries and have several more to do thanks to requests from friends and family. These are such a quick fun knit it’s easy and fun to make them. Right now they’ve replaced scarfs and dishclothes as the knitting project in my purse

Remember my first one in SWS? Well it finally got a button, a cool wooden one with leaves on it. It’s being given away as a gift.

This one went to Robin for her birthday. I used Carons Simply Soft Shadows and knit it on size 7 Addi Turbos. I chose the blue to go with her pretty blue eyes. Happy Birthday Robin!

This one is staying with me. It’s Lamb’s Pride Worsted, I’m not sure of the color. A pretty green I’ve had in my stash that I got on clearance a while back. Knit on size 7 Addi Turbos.

There was knitting on Wicked this weekend while watching TV, because when you’re knitting stockinette it’s easy to watch TV. I have to say I don’t know about all this stockinette, it’s kinda boring. I may end up a sock knitter after all – variety, small project, variety, you get the idea! :) I’ll try to get some pics and real status report up later this week!

A Calorimetry of My Very Own!

caolrimetry

From the winter issue of Knitty. Third time was the charm with this one. The first time I frogged it I was almost done when I realized I had misread the pattern. The second time I was almost done when I realized I needed to go down needle size. Ugh! But it’s done and I love it! I wore it around the house all night last night and made Nate repeatedly tell me how great it looked. He also took the pics, thanks Nate! I definitely want to make more of these and I’m thinking they’ll make great gifts for some friends with long hair.

Patons SWS in 70013, Natural Earth, on size 7 Addi Turbos. Started Jan 25th Finished Jan 26th.

Something Fruity with an Umbrella

Is anyone else annoyed by these Bahamavention commercials? I get that they need tourists (don’t forget your passport, you’ll need it to get back in the USA!) But why are they acting like being pale is so terrible? I’m pale and proud of it! As someone who’s only response to sunlight is to freckle or burn, I embraced my pastiness long ago and I have quite a few friends who have too. A suntan is a sign of skin damage, people. Find another way to lure people to your island, how about rum! I like rum! Something fruity with an umbrella and a shirtless cabana boy to bring it to me while I sit in the shade smearing on sunscreen! :)

See that? That’s the frog pond people and I’m kicking my own ass. Yesterday while blog surfing I saw the Calorimetry that Turtlegirl made and her remark about someone making it in Paton’s SWS and I though – hey I have that yarn and I can do that. I was half way through when I frogged it the first time, and almost done when I frogged it the second. And I mean frogged, all the way down. I wasted a whole evening, no progress on Wicked and nothing to show for what should have been a simple evening knit. I don’t want to talk about what went wrong, there are so many things and frankly you’ll be either be disgusted or amused. I’ve cast back on, here’s hope the third time is the charm.
