Liz’s Baby Blanket

IMG_9395I’ve been doing lots of secret knitting lately with the Holiday’s coming up and friends expecting. Well I sent off a package last week and Liz called to tell me that she received it Monday. So ta da! Here is one of my secret projects, it’s the Pinwheel Baby Blanket. My mom told me that her favorite baby blanket was a round one so I found a pattern for one. I know all that endless knitting would get old so I double stranded Patons Simply Soft using light and dark blue. This really was a pretty fast knit and I’m happy with how it turned out. I’ve left Simon in the bigger picture so you can get an idea of size.

Liz was also the recipient of the Shetlands Chunky Tweed Scarf from last week.

liz.jpgI gotta show you guys one more picture. Liz got some professional pregnancy shots done and they are so amazing so I have to share with ya’ll. She’s wanted a baby for a long time so this pregnancy truly is a blessing for her and she looks amazing. Truly glowing. The pictures all look fabulous, some of them are going to be used for advertising for different things. There is such a wide range of shots from the one you see at the right to a very tasteful topless one to some with her husband. Liz is one of my best friends and I’m am so happy for her and I think these pictures look amazing and were a fabulous idea. Congratulations again Liz!

Happy Birthday Chica Bean

scan0011My sister turned 29 this week! Don’t worry Chica, 30 is the new 20 trust me! My siser and I have always been really close. Closer than most sisters, even when we were younger. I always let her hang out with me and my friends and we lived together until I moved to Arizona after college. We still talk on the phone almost everyday. As far as I’m concerned I have the best sister in the world and I wouldn’t trade her for anything.

Here she is getting ready to cross the bridge at the bottom of the Grand Canyon.

Dressed up as Dorthy for Halloween, I was the wicked witch (we also had a good witch, cowardly lion, tin man, scarecrow and the witch the house fell on.)

Oh and all that stuff I’ve been making? Most of it went to her for her bday, including another calorimetry that I didn’t take a picture of and some other small things.  Happy Birthday chica! .

I see London, I see France

IMG_6529

I got the best surprise in the mail yesterday! Nope I didn’t win another contest, unless you call having the same parents a contest. My sister sent me a care package, just because.

IMG_6532A new journal with a red cloth cover, it’s lined and spiral bound, perfect! Yep I actually keep a journal, granted it usually takes me more than a year to fill one and I write sporadically I do keep one.

Plus a card with this cut doll with three outfits, I chose the one with the green top cuz I think she kinda looks like me and we all know how much I like green! :) Also included were pants not pictured, not very exciting to ya’ll I know but exciting to me for what they represent. My sister lost a lot of weight for her wedding and she’s kept it off (go chica!), so as I’ve been loosing weight she has been sending me her old pants, this is the next size down. I’m close to being able to wear them and I am so excited!

In Denial of Winter

IMG_6035I am tired of winter and I declare it over! From now on I’ll be wearing flip flops and tank tops, never mind that it snowed yesterday.

Warning this is a long ass post because it’s catch up time.

Friday night I went to happy hour with my coworkers. It was a great time unfortunately I had one too many (I think everyone did and I was one of the first people to leave!) so most of Saturday was spent feeling like ass and berating myself for overindulging.

IMG_6083In keeping in line with my new “winter is so over” mantra, Friday, I brought all of my summer shoes upstairs and started cleaning them, I finished yesterday. I think I have a problem. I was kind of unaware of it for a lot of reasons that I wont bore you with. Just trust me on this. The picture on the left is some, that’s right some, of the shoes I brought up stairs.

There are more in this picture

And a few more in this picture

Oh and don’t forget the ones by the front door. Never mind the 5 pairs scattered around the house not pictured that I can think of off the top of my head. Now in my defense, most of these came from Payless or Target.

This is the pile I weeded to go to Good Will or get thrown. They are either falling apart, the souls are too worn or have always hurt my feet.

IMG_6098Also because feeling like ass does not lend it’s self to very exciting activity but I got bored sitting around, I frogged. I had several old WIPs sitting around that were waiting for the frog pond so I got the winder out and got to it.

Yarn clockwise starting in the upper right – Klaus Koch Kollection, the label is not in English so I’m not sure what the content is, heck, I’m even sure of the language. Some more Klaus Kock. Elanna Sonnata in a dark green, this yarn never photographs well. The peachy colored stuff is Berrocco Cotton Twist I’m thinking I’ll use this to make Sizzle. I looked through books and online for ideas for the other stuff, I probably have enough for something like a tank in each of them, so suggestions are welcome!

Last but not least I am working away on Wicked round two. I ended up going down two pattern sizes and when I tried it on it was happy. Right now I’m just knitting away, not too exciting.

Something with a low heel

and a pointy toe, is it too much to ask? Yes, I’m talking about shoes. About once a week while getting ready for work I wish I had black shoe with a low heel and a pointy toe, something like this, but in the Target/Payless range my public servant salary restircts me to. I’ve checked both places and so far no luck.

IMG_5290While the voices in my head are not nearly as amusing as Sheepish Annies are they are still pretty entertaining and well sometimes scary. Today for instance I was trying to think of something to blog about.

  • Voice 1 : I don’t know I can’t think of anything, this is hard!
  • Voice 2 : you do it everyday! Stop whining! Just write something!
  • Voice 1 : But the only thing I can think of is that Nathan started smoking cigars and alternating between thinking it looks like a turd or incredibly phallic.
  • Voice 2 : You’re right no one wants to read about that! Just write about those socks! Knitters love socks!

IMG_5243I did managed to knit some more on my sock yesterday, I’m almost to the toe decreases. (I’m further along than the picture, but it’s the last one I took). I’m already looking for my next set. I want to try toe-up. As everyone warned me and I’d guessed at from reading other knitting blogs, I’m addicted and I haven’t finished my first pair. I realize this pair I’m probably just gonna wear around the house, but I wanna knit something pretty and I want people to see it! I have a question though, where do you wear your socks? Like out and about? Around the house? With sandals? Regular shoes?
