These are the first hats I’ve knitted and I used patterns from Fashionable Projects for the New Knitter by Alison Barlow. I checked it out from my local library. There a lot of hat patterns and other pretty simple patterns. I like most of the hat patterns and find them very easy. Probably not a great book for an advanced knitter but for me it’s great! and it was free! (Ok for 3 weeks, and maybe a couple of renewals. Gotta love the library)
I used worsted weight Lambs Pride for this one. I followed the pattern in the book, in fact it’s almost exactly the same colors. I really like it, except, it’s not long enough or deep enough, or whatever. How do you say that for a hat? Not a big deal, I’ll add rows to the next one. Doing all that seed stitch got a little tiresome too, but I’ll be doing at least one more of these.
I used a wool blend (I think) that I had in my stash. This one much easier and faster and I’ll be making a lot more of these. I used a pattern in the book for the cast on, ribbing, and decreases but added the strips. I made this one longer than the other one, but I still think I’d prefer one for me longer.
