Day Three – Kevin and I headed to Steamboat Springs to check out where he works and the town.
Kevin on the balcony outside the library he works in. The view from his office is almost the same as this. Don’t you feel bad for the guy? Just remember this when he’s calling us in February muttering red rum, after lots and lots of snow. 🙂
Me outside K’s library, you can see the mountain for skiing in the background.
Downtown was very cool. Lots of people with their well behaved dogs. This bookstore had a sign out front that said coffee, and another on that said wine. Now that’s my kind of place!
The town had a big Labor Day sale so we did some shopping. I got a great deal on a jacket. I also found some yarn I fell deeply in love with on the spot, pics of that latter this week. I had tasty fish tacos for lunch in this pub. It’s hard to find good fish tacos in the Midwest, so these were the best I’d had in a long time. The pub had cool origami around the tv. I snapped a picture, which made me wish I had a tshirt that said “I’m not a tourist, I’m a blogger”
Then we headed up into the mountains to drive over Buffalo Pass. K drove which allowed me to relax and take pictures.
Warning! The pictures ahead will make you want to sell all your crap and move to the mountains!
Look at all of the McMansions. There were so many big houses, and it just seems so wasteful, all of that space to heat. I’m sure some of them aren’t in even lived in all year ’round.
Day Four: Kevin drove me back to the airport through some really shitty traffic, but we made it in time to have a beer and a snack with my sister and her fiance.
