Let’s not talk about the yarn I bought for Sizzle and how I did a gauge swatch and how I’m about half way up the back and think I need to frog the whole thing and start over. Let’s not talk about the hat I started to make for myself and almost completed before I decided it was too tight and I didn’t like the pooling. Let’s not talk about how long it took me to finish the Irish Hiking Scarf, or all the Christmas presents I’ve bought yarn for and not started. Instead let’s talk about this!
I ordered the kit for Wendy’s Mentionable, pattern and yarn the pattern calls for. It came! I ordered directly from Yarn Botanika’s Esty store. The customer service was wonderful; such friendly emails, fast shipping! Plus is arrived nicely packaged. I can’t tell you home much I love this yarn. This is the first time I’ve spent this much money on yarn and it was definitely worth it. I really really really want to start knitting this right away. BUT, you knew there was a “but” didn’t you? Recently I’ve made some lifestyle changes (notice I didn’t say diet) that are allowing me to lose some weight. If all goes well I’ll lose quite a bit and keep it off. So, should I make it for the size I am, and (hopefully) not have it fit by the time I’m done? Make it for the size I think I’ll be? Or wait and make it in a couple of months to the size I will be at that point? I’m really tempted to make it to the size I think I’ll be. What do the wiser, more experienced knitters say?
There will be pr0n shots of this yarn on a Yarn Pr0n Friday, I promise, but for now, a picture of the yarn looking out the window at the dreary day and wishing for days when it will be a lovely hand-knit top that is allowed to venture from the house.
Rhetorical question – why don’t I have a swift and winder. Doing this by hand is going to take a very long time and perhaps more patience than I have.
