Today’s post is a potpourri, driven by several things, including a web2.0 tutorial I helped design at work, yesterdays post about Time magazine’s person of the year, and my personal thoughts and opinions.
Del.icio.us is a social bookmarking site. You download a bit of software and you surf the net and come across something you want to bookmark, you click a little button at the top of your browser and it’s saved. So easy, so fast! You assign some tags (if you use flickr you already know about tags, if not they are like keywords) and voila! The site is bookmarked and you can access your account from anywhere, you can see how many other people have it bookmarked, what tags they assigned and what other sites they have bookmarked. How great is that? I use it for knitting patterns, advice, books, articles, blogs I want to read, pretty much anything. It’s fast and easy to use. Oh and someone reads my blog using it, so that makes me del.icio.us! 🙂
So that’s a good web2.0 thing, wanna hear a freaky one? I use flickr, I tag my pictures, I look at other peoples pictures and sometimes I comment. Well I was browsing my pics to see which ones other people had marked as favorites and some freaky foot fetish person has marked a picture of my feet! I know this person doesn’t know me and I put the picture out there, but still. I find it a little . eeek!
If you’re wondering if I’ve been knitting the answer is yes – but all xmas stuff, so no pics of it because the recipients read the blog. Soon, soon, soon there will be knitting again, I’m hoping in the form of a sweater. 🙂
