I had a wonderful Christmas, so many great things I’m not going to squeeze them all into one post. So here’s the first one – Friends. This year when I went to my hometown for Christmas I saw three old friends, it was wonderful!
My friend Liz is from high school and although we keep in touch with phone calls and email it’s been over two years since we saw each other in person. I’ve moved around so much I don’t have many old friends and Liz is the only person from high school I keep in touch with and she’s a wonderful friend. Sometimes we dont’ talk for 6 months but I know I can always call her and she’ll listen to my latest problem without judgment. Also I swear she looks the same as she did in high school! Here we are demonstrating why it’s a bad idea to take a pic of yourself, at least on my part!
The second friend I saw was someone I used to work with years ago and we keep in touch with phone and email too. I forgot to get a picture! Ah! I hate that. Again, great conversation and it was so good to see him.
The last friend I saw was someone I went to high school with but hadn’t seen since high school. We got in touch through Myspace earlier this year and have been talking and agreed when we were back we’d get together. The weird part is that he lives less than 2 miles from where I lived in Tucson, and our time there overlapped by about 6 months! I met him and his girlfriend at the only bar (and possibly the only place) open on Christmas Eve and knew it was going to be an interesting evening when we were told beer was only available in cans, no draft, no bottles, cans. At one point in the evening an older man who bought a round for us came over to talk to us. I couldn’t understand or hear him very well, but at one point he threw silver dollar on the table and I’m pretty sure he was trying to buy me, luckily my friend did not take it (thanks Bradley!) and I did not have to convince some toothless old guy that I was not for sale, even for a shiny silver dollar (I took the dollar by the way, I figure I earned it!) The rest of the evening continued without event.
Thank you to all three of you for taking time to see me! It was so wonderful to see everyone, we definitely need to make time to see each other more often!
