Finally! I have photos of Juno Regina! I started this back before I went to Europe.  I got through the first lace section so I could just knit the miles and miles and miles of the straight middle.  Ok maybe it wasn’t that long but it sure felt like it!

Juno Regina

It’s part of the reason it took so long.  I don’t think I’ll ever knit lace again that has a straight section like that.  But over all I love it.  I should have made it a bit longer.

Juno Regina

I’ve worn it several times already and got loads of compliments about it! I used Lorna’s Laces thanks to my fantastic Secret Pal Past 🙂

Gossamer Stars ScarfHow do you find a balance between work and the rest of your life? Especially when you love your job? It ain’t easy especially when you move to a new town, have a longer commute and join a gym. But you work on it, and I am.

I’m still working on my Gossamer Stars Scarf – it’s delicate and beautiful, but it doesn’t take that great of pictures. I love the combination of this yarn and pattern.

I’m SO close to finishing the Juno Regina Scarf, I’ve started the pattern for the end! I love this project! The yarn came to me by way of Skyline Chilly, my previous secret pal upstream partner.

Chicabeans ClapotisI finally finished Chicabean’s Clapotis, she asked for one after seeing mine last year. She wanted something neutral that she can wear over dresses so I chose grey. I used KnitPicks Elegance (alpaca and silk) so it would be a bit finer and thiner. It has all the elegance and grace that is Clapotis. It looks great, it’s warm and soft and I think it’s the perfect length and width for what she wants to use it for. I hope she thinks so too. I sent it off to her on Monday. Perfect timing since her birthday is this week. Happy Birthday Chicabean! She turns 30!

What can I say about Clapotis that hasn’t already been said?

I’m pretty sure this wont be my last Clapotis!

Guys I have lost my knitting and blogging mojo. I don’t know what it is but since I’ve been back from Italy I have almost no desire to knit, blog, read knitting blogs, whatever. I feel bad about this. I’ve rounded up my WiPs to blog about them in an effort to get my mojo back.

But first! The contest! Contestant names were printed on strips of paper and put in a bowl. The knitting winners was Shannon & the non knitting winner was Jenster. Send me an email with your Snail mail addy and I’ll send off prizes soon. I think I’m gonna go to an out of town yarn shop to get prizes. Jenster – you too, for some reason Idon’t have your address.

Juno ReginaOn to the knitting! Ok seriously remember my yarn diet? uh yeah, I’m ashamed to say I’m not doing well. Granted I’ve curbed the impulse more often than not but there has been some yarn buying! I can’t help it! I seriously need someone to follow me around and kick me in the shins when I want to buy yarn.

On to the WiPs!

Juno Regina went to Italy with me and I knit on it quite a bit, but my focus was on Tuscany so I didn’t finish it. I’m getting close to the end though. Just need to actually work on it! 🙂 It’s beautiful and I know I’ll wear it a lot once it’s complete. The Lorna’s Laces is yummy! I can’t help but remember it arrived while I was staying in a hotel due to The Ice Storm From Hell and how happy it made me!

This is some secret knitting, it’s a gift.

Melon Pattern Shawl

The Melon Pattern Scarf from Victorian Lace today. Remember it? From waaaaay back when. I love this yarn and the pattern and them together. So why haven’t I been working on it? I have no freaking idea. But I have picked it back up again. Originally I wasn’t going to add the border, but now I think I will, I have enough yarn and I’ve gained confidence in my lace knitting skills. So I’m changing the name from Melon Pattern Scarf to Melon Pattern Shawl. Hopefully it will be big enough to be called a shawl!

Recycled Silk Scarf

This isn’t really even a WiP, I picked up some recycled silk, did a simple knit-every-row-on-too-big-needles scarf and just need to weave in the ends.

Er, yes I bought it recently, yes I know I’m on a yarn diet. It was a sale and it’s black it will go with everything! Ok fine, you’re right I shouldn’t have bought the yarn.

Mitt Envy

Ah these, Mitty Envy from Weezalana. I bought this yarn because I loved the color and had no idea what to do with it, not being a sock knitter you know. Browsing my queue I came across Weeza’s pattern. Perfect they were made for each other. The pattern is great, but apparently I’m not. I’ve already frogged once and have to do so again because I can not read. I am a moron. I should be done with both mitts at this point. Maybe I deserve to have my mojo missing.

Mandarin petitNot a WiP but soon to be, this yarn will be the Apres Surf Hoodie from the new issues of Interweave Knits. I’m just waiting on the needles to get here.

I hope everyone else’s mojo is just fine. I’m off to try to get caught up on my blog reading!

Picture 152I started these the morning of the Ice Storm, 12/9/07, while I was still optimistic about the power coming back on. Tab asked me for a pair and I said I’d make them after my Christmas knitting was done. Well I had no power and was stressed out and the yarn was calling to me, so I started them. I finished them in the hotel on Tuesday 12/11/07. These went so much faster and easier than my first pair. Wow I’ve come a long way since then! 🙂 I never finished that pair but now I”m inspired to get them back out and frog and reknit them.

Picture 106Wow I think I’m going to cover more topics in this one post than I normally do in a week!

First up – I am still in the hotel, the electric company told me this morning that it’s not safe for me to be going in and out of the house. I’ll be hitting Target this afternoon for a few necessities. They have no idea when the power will be back on. I haven’t heard from my realtor but I think it’s safe to assume at this point the sale of the house isn’t going to go through. No idea on the damage to my house etc until I can get back inside.

Picture 145The boys seem to be ok with hotel life. They get to be on the beds and they aren’t allowed to at home. I got them some toys and chewies and rigged a chair so Oscar can look out the window. This his favorite past time at home. He was so happy he let me take this picture. Usually he turns his head when I try to take pictures of him. 🙂 They aren’t barking and seem to just sleep all day which is what they do at home anyway 🙂

I’ve been picking up my mail at the post office everyday and yesterday this came! It’s Lorna’s Laces Helen’s Lace. As soon as I saw Juno Regina I knew I had to knit it. It seemed like fate since my upstream pal in the latest Secret Pal was Emily (she works at Lorna’s Laces, I’ll give you a moment to be alone with your envy) This is Cranberry and it’s stunning! I can’t wait to have time to knit with it!

In the middle of all of this I had a hair appointment Monday that I kept. It has been rescheduled twice already and given how things were going I figured it might be the only good thing for a while. Unfortunately I’m not happy with the cut. I love the color, she always does a great job. But I’d say almost every other time I don’t like the cut. She always cuts the top layer way to short. The over all length is ok, but the layers in general are way too short. I’ve spent the last two days feeling like I had “mom hair” I think I got it styled ok today, but I’m considering having her take another 1/2 inch off the bottom so I don’t feel like it’s so much longer than the top layers. Then I’m done with her. I’ll be getting my hair done somewhere else from now on.

Picture 113In knitting news! I finished a pair of Fetching. They’re not Christmas knitting, but when you’re tired and stressed out you want to knit what you want to knit. Tab asked me to make a pair for her and I said I would after Christmas. The yarn came on Saturday and was so scrumptious I started knitting them as soon as it was daylight on Sunday. More details tomorrow since I think today’s post is long enough. Here’s a peek.
